Domaine BONNET-HUTEAU is located in the heart of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, 20 minutes from Nantes and 10 km from Clisson, a small town with an Italianate charm along the river Sèvre Nantaise.

This domain owns a medieval house which was the origin of the town La Chapelle-Heulin and has been producing Muscadet for over 150 years.

The BONNET HUTEAU family runs their vineyard in order to develop the whole range of flavours of Muscadet Sèvre et Maine Haute Expression. Rémi and Jean-Jacques Bonnet have been practising viticulture respectful of the soil and nature, handpicked and with limited yields for over 12 years.

THE VINE IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS ...

The entire domain is cultivated according to the organic farming method ‘Agriculture Biologique’ using no synthetic chemicals.

We officially started working our 40 hectares of vines using a biodynamic approach in 2010, which allowed us to produce pure, natural and living wines fully expressing the minerality of our soils ("Biodyvin" Certification ongoing).

Our viticulture practices:
. Organic fertilization
. Respect for the life of the soil (hoeing and de-hearthing)
. Phytosanitary control respectful of the auxiliary fauna and environment
. Active ingredients approved by Ecocert, respect for yeast flora
. 3 wire trellising for a better breathability of bunches of grapes.
. Application of biodynamic preparations (compost dung MT (Maria Thun), horn manure (500), horn silica (501) ...)
. Preparation of herbal teas, decoctions of plants (nettle, horsetail ...) to help the defence and growth of the vine
. Respect for the rhythms of the lunar calendar (days, leaves, flowers and fruit ...)
. Limitation of yields to 45 hl / ha to concentrate the aromas
. Selective hand picking

THE NATURAL EXPRESSION OF A TERROIR

Our property stretches over 3 localities with different mineral terroirs expressing the balance of our wines. Each batch of grape harvest is identified and isolated by its terroir and vinified separately. Therefore, we can offer different styles of Muscadet according to their origin.

LES DABINIÈRES

Watershed of the marsh of Goulaine. The influence of the marsh on the thermal and water regulation of the soil. Gentle slopes of micaschists and gneisses. Acid rock altering and giving light soils with low fertility gravelly clays. LES GAUTRONNIÈRES

A little higher but still under the influence of the marsh of Goulaine. On the edge of the gabbro massive: "green" rock of amphibolite type (basic rocks) slightly altered giving infertile soils of medium precocity. LES LAURES

Situated on one of the most beautiful hills dominating the Goulaine region, this walled vineyard is planted on an altered and fractured granite vein. Very shallow soils with a strong presence of bedrock which heats up quickly with a very good flow of water. GOULAINE

The landscape of river Goulaine is characterized by a finely carved relief. It consists of a succession of hills on mainly schist or gneiss soils along the Goulaine basin. Located on top of the hillsides, the plots offer a clear view of the marsh of Goulaine, whose appearance changes with the seasons being either flooded or dry. The village cru Goulaine stands among the earliest terroirs in Sèvre et Maine.
